Update on Porcine Circovirus Related Diseases

چکیده
Introduction Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is thought to be the cause of PMWS (postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome), a condition affecting mainly pigs between 6 and 18 weeks of age. It is usually characterized by pigs that are wasting, do not respond well to conventional treatments and the mortality in those that get sick is high. Other clinical signs like thumping and diarrhea vary in severity from one case to another.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) infections: clinical signs, pathology and laboratory diagnosis.
Clinical signs and pathological features are still the corner-stones to suspect and diagnose overt disease associated with PCV2 infection. The clinico-pathological scope of this viral infection has been expanded over time. From the initial description of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome, some enteric, respiratory and reproductive disorders have been subsequently linked with PCV2. Porc...

Here, we present the first report of a novel rearranged porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) strain named BIV, isolated from both in vitro and in vivo sources. The complete circular genome of BIV is 896 nucleotides in length. The data will help us to update current knowledge of the replication of PCV2 viruses in cell culture and of their molecular evolution, as well as their diagnosis.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the primary causative agent of porcine circovirus disease, a complex multisystem syndrome in domestic pigs. Despite the significant economic losses caused by porcine circovirus disease, the mechanisms of pathogenesis underlying the clinical findings remain largely unclear. As various reports have highlighted the potential key role of vascular lesions in the p...

Porcine Circovirus Diseases (PCVD) and Porcine Circovirus Associated Disease (PCVAD) are synonymous names for a disease syndrome caused by porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and originally described in the mid-1990’s as Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS). 2 While the acronyms PCVD and PMWS have been widely used over the last decade, the American Association of Swine Veterinarians i...

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a small, non-enveloped, single-stranded DNA virus in the genus Circovirus within the family Circoviridae.1 It has been incriminated as a major causative agent of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), which is known as PCV2-associated diseases (PCVAD);2,3 PCVAD is considered to be an economically important global issue. Most Korean swine farms (95...
